The Glenturret Welcomes New Managing Director Jennie Baernreuther

The Glenturret Welcomes New Managing Director Jennie Baernreuther

The Glenturret, Scotland’s Oldest Working Distillery, will enter a new chapter in its 261-year history next month when it welcomes new Managing Director Jennie Baernreuther. A spirits aficionado with over 20 years’ experience in the industry, Jennie Baernreuther will start at The Glenturret on 25th March 2024.

Baernreuther joins the company from Speciality Drinks Group which includes drinks businesses: The Whisky Exchange, Speciality Drinks, Whisky Auction and London Cocktail Week. As Commercial Director, she has been part of the leadership team driving the business transformation since it was acquired by drinks giant, Pernod Ricard in 2021.

A graduate in Psychology and Business Management from the University of Glasgow, Baernreuther gained her MBA from the University of Birmingham in 2023, a testament to her curiosity and commitment to the drinks industry. Originally from the Scottish borders, it was in London that she discovered her passion for Scotch Whisky when joining The Whisky Exchange.

“I am thrilled to be joining The Glenturret as Managing Director, at this exciting stage of the journey. John and the team have done an amazing job of building
the business and brand credentials, with Bob and Ian leading the charge on producing whiskies being recognised for their exceptional quality. Coupled with an incredible hospitality offering and the addition of Aberturret Estate House, The Glenturret has a unique proposition in the industry that I am confident will deliver strong future growth and prosperity.”

Baernreuther takes over the reins from The Glenturret’s current Managing Director John Laurie, who joined the company in 2016 and who, together with his team, helped establish The Glenturret’s brand and liquid credentials in over 14 international markets with great commercial success. The Glenturret is enormously grateful to John for his eight years of committed leadership. It looks forward to a fresh and fruitful future of expansion and continued cultural relevance under Jennie Baernreuther.

John Laurie said, “Managing The Glenturret over the last 8 years has been an incredible privilege. Every part of the success achieved by The Glenturret over recent years should be attributed to the incredible team, their passion and dedication to this distillery. I am delighted to be handing the reins over to Jennie Baernreuther who is absolutely the right person to support this team to another chapter.”

Silvio Denz, Chairman of the Board at Glenturret Ltd, said "John leaves with our huge gratitude for a job well done. The Glenturret book still has many exciting chapters to be written. We are delighted to welcome Jennie Baernreuther as our new Managing Director and very much look forward to her expertise and long-standing passion for the industry”.
